Investment Authority SAGIA coordinates activities with
an alliance of developers headed by MMC Malaysia; Malaysia's
largest and most successful company operating in the fields
of engineering, constructions, mining, transport, logistic
services, energy and power generation. The company also
owns and runs the most important ports of Malaysia, which
are equally important in global terms. The list of developers
also includes Saudi Binladin Group; which started business
in the early thirties. The group executes civil and industrial
projects valued in tens of billions of Saudi Riyals worldwide.
Jazan Economic City is located 60 km north of Jazan City,
occupying an area of 113 km2, and it stretches for 12
km along the coastline of the Red Sea. It is anticipated
that upon completion of infrastructure works, Jazan Economic
City will attract US $ 30 billion of industrial, commercial
and residential investments, creating 500,000 direct and
indirect job opportunity.
The main economic sector in Jazan Economic City will
be Heavy Industries, the requirement of which, in terms
of power resources and strategic location, is featured
by the proximity of international shipping lanes in the
Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. Benefiting from such location,
the industrial products of Jazan Economic City are expected
to be easily exported to Asia, Africa and Europe. Public
services and facilities of the city will help establishing
minor industries mainly in fields of agriculture, livestock
and fisheries, which correspond with the rational significance
of Jazan Area. In addition to providing a huge number
of job opportunities for the Jazan's public, through its
2,000,000 km2 development and research area, which is
intended to undertake research, development, support and
the provision of specialized services for assisting products.
Moreover, JEC intends to establish a regional center for
distributing steel as raw material and granules to the
Middle East Area. The center will contribute to major
steel production industries.
Jazan Economic City enjoys features that complement
each other, one of which is the Strategically Located
Sea Port consisting of vast facilities and services.
The Sea Port of Jazan Economic City is one of the complementary
features of the city. Its strategic location near BAB
ALMANDAB and space of 3.3 million m2 will make it one
of the largest – most significant ports in the region,
as well as being a main terminal on the Red Sea's Coastline.
By virtue of its vast modern facilities and capacity of
receiving the largest vessels, the port will benefit from
the increasing growth of international shipping route
traffic in the Red Sea. The port will contribute to the
provision of job opportunities in various fields related
to cargo, storage, re-freight and all support and logistic
services. Annexed to the Sea Port, a dry port is intended
to provide services for fishing boats and ships. In order
to become a coeval ideal city, Jazan Economic City will
include: an industrial zone, logistic services center,
power & desalination & refrigeration plant, residential
area, business center island, urban center, seaside area,
marine services area and the educational area.
